Boat House Grille

The best trifecta! Food, beverages, service. We always sit at the bar and they have such a nice line of beers on tap. The wine pour is solid and the cocktails appear to be the number one seller. I’ve had several menu items, but always swing back to their Caesar with swordfish. The others are very good; salmon with vegetables, cod cheeks, steak & cheese, eggplant Parmesan, chicken wings, potato skins, deviled eggs pretty much everything was really good. Busy place during dinner hour, but we usually go early like 3:30-4pm and always get a seat at the bar.

One of my favorite places to go. The atmosphere and the vibes are always great, and of course absolutely love the food. I always get either the baked combo which comes with shrimp, scallops, and haddock. Or the lobster pie. You will definitely get more out of the baked combo meal, and I think it’s more worth it than the lobster pie. Both baked dishes, though are very delicious. I always get sides of mashed potato and squash, super flavorful! You can’t go wrong with the pumpkin beer as well. It’s a great family place to go. They also have a family room in the back of the restaurant that could seat about 12 people, you definitely need to request this room a few weeks in advance if you want to guarantee the space. Enjoy!

We were in the area for a mini vacation and stopped by here after touring Castle Hill on the crane estate. If you are in the area you should definitely stop here for a meal. The seafood is incredibly fresh and tasty! I got the seafood bake combo and my husband got the Cajun chicken and steak tip combo, they both were delicious and in large portions. There are plenty of other options to choose from with even bigger portions too. The staff are super friendly and accommodating for any food allergies or restrictions. It looks family-friendly too. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. All around it was a great experience!

Went to the Boat House Grille in Essex on our family’s New England roadtrip. NE Clam Chowder did not disappoint. Excellent seafood. Stellar service. Overall, will 100% come back if ever in the Essex area again!

Fantastic service, great atmosphere and the best menu I have ever seen. So many choices of things I like. We discovered this restaurant while on a mini vacation in the area. We like it so much we ate here two days in a row and if the vacation was longer would have returned for more. I especially liked the Cajun Haddock, Cajun chicken, steak tips and sweat chill wings. So delicious. The lobster roll was overflowing, mashed potatoes were my favorite vegetable. If you are in the area this is the place to eat. I hope to come back soon.
