BitterSweet Bed & Breakfast

You can see what it was but something felt off. Deferred maintenance, cobwebs on ceiling, bath needed some serious scrubbing. Loved the owner but have to be honest-I wouldn’t go back.

Moldy uncomfortable Inn. Don’t go! Disappointing from the moment we saw it. Strong smell of mold on the first floor plastic flower arrangements inside and out. In need of new mattresses and bed covers. They’re too hard and worn out. Since I was a paid guest I thought it would be ok/helpful to let our host, Edith, know the shower head in our bathroom was broken. I asked if she had a plumber that could replace it. She immediately became combative and called me rude. I knew it was a lost cause, I dropped it. There was no place else to stay in the area it was parents weekend at Bard college. Edith did offer to let us change rooms but I had a strong feeling it was just going to be more of the same. The location is good and Breakfast was good but that’s about it. I see other more positi

Moldy, unkept, uncomfortable. Knew it wasn’t going to be good the moment we saw all the plastic flowers but everything in the area was booked. Worse was the hard bed and worn out shower head. Even worse when I suggested to our host, Edith, if perhaps she had a plumber that could simply replace the shower head she became combative. She told me I was rude. I believe I was being helpful in the situation. As a paid guest I felt my suggestion may have been given some consideration.|Breakfast was good but that’s about it. I see other reviews are more positive but I find them hard to believe. Her housekeeper was very pleasant and sympathetic. Don’t go, that’s my advice.

The Bitter Sweet B&B is an unexpected experience you didn’t know you needed! If you come for no other reason, come for Edith…she is a true gem! The old house (built originally in the 1700’s) is clean and quiet on a beautiful piece of property. 10 minutes from town and you feel like you’re away from it all! Each room is quiet and completely private with its own bath. Free parking and wi-fi. Edith makes a delicious breakfast herself on the weekends and treats everyone like family. You’ll be glad you came!

We had never stayed at a B&B before and stumbled across it in mid May.|How beautiful!|If you are looking for that perfect, idyllic "colonial" weekend... this is the place! The rooms clean and beautifully decorated. Beautiful landscaping... the smell of honeysuckle and lavender wafting thru the sun-filled window in the morning. Lots of bird songs. If you are a birder, you will love this location. Close to the center of Rhinebeck, but not enough to be bothered by traffic. Hint of smokehouse in the outside air from long ago.|Our host Edith is a wonderful lady! Very friendly, personable, and helpful. Knowledgeable about the area, history, and current events in town. Please consider this B&B if you are looking for a quaint, historic, reasonable, memorable country experience.
