Bistro By The Sea

Great Location and contact as it is right next to Theater by the Sea and you can grab dinner before the play. However, the staff needs to be trained on food allergies and how serious they are. The waitress came back to our table and told us the dish wasn’t safe to eat as my son was about to put the food in his mouth. This was after telling her REPEATEDLY that my son was allergic to nuts and sesame seeds. She then said “the chef doesn’t speak English.” No matter what language our staff speaks- train them on food allergies and that they can kill people.

We were frequent diners at this restaurant. Last night we had one of the worst meals we have had in RI. We will never eat there again. Overpriced and disappointing. The service was abysmal. Because of medical issues I requested a recommendation on a dish that was not spicy and asked the server to be sure with the chef. She never did and the dish was beyond spicy. This chef uses spices to make up for lack of flavor. Also, my husband ordered fish and chips which were disappointing. Wine so overpriced to be embarrassing. We are done eating here.

Great little hideaway down by the Theatre By the Sea. We could definitely tell it was associated with Duck Press in Wakefield. Simple house cocktails to start (a bourbon smash and a twist on an Aperol spritz) followed by approachable but tasty food. Brussels and Arancini to start, Basil Pesto Fettucine and NY Strip. All were well executed, very tasty. Passed on dessert but mousse sounded decadent. Went before going to Patsy Cline (good show) but will head back just for the restaurant.

First time dining here since moving to the area, and we were pleasantly surprised. Based on our experience, it seems many of the older negative reviews may reflect a previous management team. The food and service exceeded expectations — definitely worth giving it a try. We’ll be back!

My husband and I had a fantastic experience at Bistro tonight! The hostess, our server, and food runner were all delightful. Joelle, our server, was cheerful and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious: the fried Brussels sprouts appetizer was generous and perfectly seasoned, my cioppino was amazing and I especially loved the mussels and sea bass, and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his beef brisket grilled cheese. We will definitely be returning to Bistro! Kudos to the management and chef!
