Big Fun Claypot

One of my favorite spots for a quick, casual Chinese meal. I tried their original Quincy location a few years ago and really liked it, but since Quincy Center is a bit out of the way for me, I hadn’t been back. Once they opened the Brookline location, though, I started coming pretty regularly. Most of what I’ve tried here has been very solid. One thing I especially appreciate is how they handle the claypot rice. Here, they leave the sauce bottle on the table, which lets me play the waiting game. This allows that glorious layer of rice to scorch into a golden crust before I season it. They’re also generous with the protein, and I rarely feel the need to order sides. One of our favorite go-to spots for delicious, authentic clay pot rice and Cantonese dishes. My husband and I were really happy to hear this second location opened up. The restaurant is spacious, updated and the food continues to be excellent and delicious. This location does not offer their signature rice rolls but their menu has more options for clay pot rice and entrees compared to the Quincy location. The portion sizes are generous so it is perfect for sharing or having leftovers. The Chinese and bacon claypot rice is one of my husband’s favorite dishes. Don’t forget a splash of their claypot sauce when it comes to your table hot. Their house chili oil is not too spicy and adds a nice kick to any of their dishes. We had been looking forward to trying this claypot rice place and were not disappointed. All the dishes were close to Hong Kong flavors. The claypot rice dishes were quite well cooked. The bottoms were nice and crunchy, with the exception of one that was slightly overcooked and had a burnt taste. The beef claypot was tender but under seasoned. The Chinese sausage with eel had a lot of sausages and 5 slices of eel. It tasted very good along with the claypot sauce. The peapod stems dish was fine but needed more salt and garlic. The curry fishballs had a great curry flavor and good crunch. We didn't like the lukewarm water they provided on the table and ordered hot tea instead. The portions were unexpectedly large and none of us were able to finish the claypots. Overall, we were very happy

Frozen winter nights are the best nights to have claypot rice. We enjoyed our Big Fun Claypot dinner. I loved the fact you can mix and match Claypots. We had the Chinese sausage, bacon and duck Claypot. The highlight is at the base of the pot when the rice becomes crispy! We also had the salt and pepper squid. Niceee! Want to try the eel next time.

Very solid Cantonese food. Delicious claypot and the portions were generous! The staff was super friendly and made our experience even better. Loved all the dishes we tried. They don’t only serve claypot, they had a wide variety of different food. We got the spare rib claypot, salt & pepper shrimp, Kung Pao beef (which was one of our favs), pork soup dumplings, and chicken lo mein. Highly recommend if you want good Chinese food in the Brookline area
