Big Boy

We stopped as we passed through from Mackinaw heading home on a Sunday. We enjoyed the all you can eat brunch. Our waitress was wonderful and food was good. I like unique and regional chain restaurants if in”have” to eat at a chain. This was fun and eclectic.

We stopped for lunch. Got it to go and went across the road to a day park on lake Michigan. The food was very good and ordering service was great! This is one of the last few Michigan holdouts that have the original big boy restaurant style and atmosphere. We stop here every time we pass through heading to a destination.

I haven't seen a Big Boy in a while, so when I came across one in the UP, I had to stop. The restaurant was clean, the staff were great and the food was what I expected it to be. It wasn't a "to die for" meal, but it was what I ordered the way I ordered it. The staff really were great. My wife ordered breakfast and her pancakes came out very very well done. The waitress told us when she brought us our meals that she had already told the cook to make new pancakes. She brought them out quickly and they were golden brown. We had a descent meal at a reasonable price, so I really cannot complain. If I am back in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to dine here again.

We did not eat here... we just stopped because we haven't seen one that was actually opened in years LOL... you can see Manistique East Breakwater Lighthouse nearby...

Had never been to a Big Boy restaurant, gave it a try. This picture is the pot roast dinner. It was $16+ and was not good at all. This is the first thing at a restaurant that I've sent back in many years. The waitress was nice but when I sent this back she said I could have the buffet for no charge instead. When I went to pay for what I ate they charged me for this pot roast thing anyway... Be warned this seems to be a nostalgic thing for people that remember them. As a new comer, it was high priced poor quality food.
