Bazaar Sonoma (BaSo/巴索/バソ)

Once in awhile you stumble into a perfect restaurant experience, this was more than I could have hoped for. We walked carefully into the restaurant, which is mainly bar seating, and felt like we were in a pop up restaurant in all the best ways. Chef was cooking and the two sous chefs were making pork dumplings - one rolling the dough, one crimping, masterfully, perfect looking dumplings. Since the restaurant wasn't crowded, they asked if I wanted to make a dumpling, and it is harder than it looks. I ate that dumpling in an order of Zhong Dumplings that were sitting a spicy, comforting sauce. You can not underestimate the importance and mouth feel of a hand made dumpling wrapper. You can buy their chilie crisp, amazing stuff. Then we had Chicken Congee with toppings that were savory, tangy

We began with the smashed cucumbers and lotus pond salad. Both were light, crunchy, and refreshing. The delicate flavors were a great way to start our meal. Next up were their signature Zhong Dumplings. I loved the balance of sweet and spicy. The chewiness of the dough was *chef’s kiss*. We also tried one of their specials - the Hawkers’ Dry Wonton. The flavor of the pork and mushroom filling is unmatched, and the clear broth the wontons came in was also delicious. For our larger dishes, we got the sizzling seasonal fish and fried chicken. The chicken was super crispy, but the real standout was the texture of the fish. It was so tender and perfectly flakey. It’s a super authentic preparation of fresh fish - a must try!

WOWWWW. Everything about this place is absolutely stellar. Incredible service from Sean, who helped us pick out the perfect dishes and was an absolute joy of a person. The food was out of this woooorrrllldddd delicious - the flavors were just spectacular; honestly some of the best food I've ever had. Ambiance was perfection. Lovely lighting everywhere and so beautiful. Highly recommend the smoked sour plum tea - it complimented the food perfectly. Honestly 10/10 experience. Can't wait to come back.

Amazing spot, great staff. Happy we tried the lotus salad, something Ive never seen before and such a unique combination of flavors. Tried Dumplings, pork rice bowl, and the trifle dessert. All delicious! Would be excited to come back!

We heard about this place and decided to give it a shot. Absolutely charming, unpretentious, welcoming — and super dialed in food. Bold but balanced dishes. The old location might have burnt down but the food is still on fire. The outdoor seating is mellow and informal but thematic of Chinese street food (guessing that’s the aesthetic). Inside has a food counter mixing front of house and back of house contexts, a very friendly staff.
