Barrier Island Bagels

First time to OBX, a friend recommended this place for breakfast and we were not disappointed!! Delicious bagel sandwiches & our little thought the reindeer pancake dish was so cute! It’s a small place with limited seating and even in the off season it got busy quick! The workers were hard at work & doing their best to keep up though. We’ll definitely be back when we visit again.

Stopped here for bagel sandwiches with my family while on vacation. There was a very young child at the hostess stand...maybe 7 or 8 years old. She didn't say anything to us so we didn't know we were supposed to give her our name. When an adult came over, she told us it was "very important" to tell the little girl our name and the number in our party. Several bagels were not available when we went...they were out of plain, onion, everything, and others. We worked with what they had available and had a few drinks. The turkey bacon was burned so I don't recommend that, but the mimosas were good.

7/2025. Sooooo, upon leaving last time my I got A Jockey's Ridge Italian to-go. Then, Took it on a 3 hour trip to home-- i thoroughly enjoyed it the next day for lunch and it was un-freaking-believable! Been thinking about this place ever since. This morning brought everything full circle when we had the biggest omelet we had ever seen and the Ghost Ship. The omelet was stellar and the Ghost Ship is (as i mentioned in my last review) the best breakfast combo ever (if you love sausage gravy like i do)! Thanks BIB!! 7/2025(part b)Went back a few days later and got the ghost ship and a BLT w/egg...yep, got the Jockey Ridge Italian to-go. The tiny parking lot is worth it! The food here was so good, and even though the staff in the middle of a morning rush we were taken care of quickly. I'm also a stickler for clean and this place was sparkling! The staff clearly work well together and are very friendly. Running a large amount of takeout and in store orders at the same time is no easy task and they did great. In regards to the price, this place is super affordable. Just depends how many fun drinks you wanna order. You can spend as much or as little as you would like (⁠ ⁠╹⁠▽⁠╹⁠ ⁠)

My husband and I tried going here a few years ago, but they were closed the day we were in town, unfortunately. We finally went this year, and it was worth the wait! I especially love the unique bagel sandwich offerings and the ability to create your own. We sat by the window towards the back, so we got to see the bakers preparing the food as well - highly recommend! Next time we'll try one of the flights!
