Finally found it!….a dumpling in Charleston that isn’t a half moon shape! Way to go Bareo! Taking the time to honor culinary tradition like doing the proper 7 pleats on the dumplings is a real indicator to me that Chef Nikko isn’t fooling around! The space (back at Kultura’s old location) screams intimate Ramen shop in Japan, but don’t look for Ramen here. What you’ll get is a fantastic fusion of Japanese and Filipino foods that coexist perfectly side by side. We sat at the counter and watched the Maestro (Chef Nikko) conduct his orchestra. Each set of hands came together in perfect harmony to produce an amazing array of flavors and textures. And the kakigori? Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented — the perfect light and refreshing finish. The vibe is warm and inviting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal, whether you’re out with friends or on a casual date night. Very small space so be prepared for that, but I love the vibe. It is very cozy and relaxing! Service was great and so was the food! Made with love. They have a good sake selection, and if you like tea they have a tea service as well. I had the salmon hand roll and noodles soup with dumplings!
