Armadillos Ice Cream Shoppe

Fun place to hangout and have a sweet treat. They have a lot of flavors and combinations along with a rotating menu. You order outside at the window and you can either sit outside at the picnic tables in the shade or go inside. We sat inside, there are lots of booths and tables. It’s clean, bright and the bathrooms are well kept. They even have a little station with cups where you can get water. Family and dog friendly. This will be one of our regular summer hang out spots.

Let's start with the good- this place is lively and has plenty of parking and also seating options to enjoy the ice cream. The bad - some of the ice cream flavors can be out of sync and therefore not desirable. Choose your flavors wisely. This place is decent and I will recommend it if you are visiting Rapid City,.SD.

Great service and so much ice cream and shakes to choose from! I loved the slushy float! My kids all ordered something different and they were all so good! You can’t go wrong here, they have what you want!

Only really get a couple things here. Typically employed by teenagers. Only open certain months of the year (not a complaint, it is a good business move, but feel here or there about it). Lots of times can be pretty busy, has outside ordering and seating (as well as inside). Honestly, people go nuts for this place, and while there's nothing really wrong with it, I don't personally see what the hype is. Maybe the variety of flavors? It's good, though.

Great ice cream shop. Indoor and outdoor seating were available during our visit. There were signs about fresh peaches being in season, and the peach cobbler sundae in a waffle bowl was very good. The Italian ice is a nice non-dairy option, notably better than the standard shush option at other ice cream shops. Also, self serve free water.
