After looking at the photos posted here I think I got a dud or a new employee. I ordered my sandwiches for pickup otherwise I would have said this in person. The flavor of the large pastrami Reuben sandwich was great but I did not get enough meat and got way too much sauerkraut. If the sandwich/bread was half the size I would have been over the moon. Please see my pictures to form your own opinion.
The sandwich itself is good. The service is average at best, young kid not overly friendly! The downfall? One large turkey sandwich with only lettuce and mayonnaise and large sandwich with chips and a drink. $58!!!!!! That is absolutely insane. I could’ve gone out to dinner for that at a sit down restaurant!!! I guess the lesson is don’t order the large!!! EDIT: When I got home I realized the sandwhich is HUGE and could feed multiple people. On the counter they had 2 size rolls so I thought one was normal and one was large - clearly I was wrong and the gentleman did not say, "Are you sure you want a large? These 2 buns are not small and large" So I assumed and paid LITERALLY for these 2 sandwiches but at least I feel better about that astonishing amount!
My husband and I were looking for a delicious sandwich and headed to East Bay Deli, but the reviews for Alvin Ord's had us very excited and hopeful for a new addition to our repertoire. My husband ordered the medium French dip. The bread was dry with no discernible flavor. Although plentiful, the meat was overcooked and dry. My husband likened it to the old steak'ums that you could buy from the grocery store freezer, except the steak'ums had a decent flavor. The three cheeses were just a smear that he initially thought to be mayonnaise...it was that minimal. Also, the shape of the bread makes it very difficult to dip in the small container of au jus. I had the salad with turkey and chicken. The salad was fresh and adequate, but nothing special. The dressings are pre-packaged...again, no
I have been to this location at least 4 times and had a great experience. Today’s experience was not the same. Their sandwiches are usually soo good. I ordered a small turkey club and there was soo much Mayo everywhere that it was hard to eat. And I like Mayo. I have some pics and I’m sad to say I wiped the Mayo off the outside at least 6 or 7 times and still ate it. Even after wiping it many times with the many, many napkins the staff put in the bag (thankful for that) I still have a paper covered in Mayo drippings. I also don’t think there was any mozzarella on it, but I’m not sure bc of all the mayo, I just couldn’t find or taste the cheese. I only tasted bacon and mayo
