Abbott's Frozen Custard

Abbott's Frozen Custard is a long standing Ice cream shop within the Needham area. There was multiple other locations across Massachusetts, however this is the last one left. The ice cream itself is pretty soft and smooth, maintaining that consistency even after multiple days in the freezer. The ice cream isn't too sweet, and has a nice taste that lets the ice cream go well with other desserts as well.

Oh, my!!! Don’t settle for just any ice cream when you can have Creamy, Delicious, unbelievable, Abbott’s!! We just stopped there…it’s a cold, gloomy February day, made a lot brighter by the guy behind the counter and his fabulous frozen custard!!… I planned on getting just one scoop, but he suggested two - it wasn’t too hard to convince me…. and, believe me, it was well worth the calories!!….the chocolate custard loaded with peanut butter cups was SO creamy and delicious!!! It was hard to put down! I managed to save a bit of it for later in the freezer, but barely!, and, the Chocolate Brownie Sundae— it was OUT of this world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🩵💙😇💙😇💙😇💙😇💙😇💙🩵

I love this place so much! Before Abbott’s I never had frozen custard before. As an ice cream lover I actually like it better. The flavors were homemade and delicious, and the service is always great. They also have amazing novelties - their chip wheels and ice cream pies are my favorite. I often get an ice cream pie for special events instead of a cake!

The biggest problem with this frozen custard is that it's scooped, and not directly from the machine, therefore it's not nearly as creamy or smooth as frozen custard is famously known for. My vanilla one scoop cone tasted exactly like a McDonald's ice cream cone, and was about 4x the price. This place is very expensive. 4 kids cups and 2 adult cups cost $28. The inside is small and tight, and the outside street offers ~8 plastic Adirondack chairs. Having had proper frozen custard in the Midwest, I cannot recommend this custard as anything more than over priced soft serve. The employee was curt, and kept asking 'what else?' in a tone as is we were wasting her time with our decision.

The custard is good. They have a rotating variety of flavors that are all pretty good. I can’t give them more than 3 stars though because they do not offer tap water to customers and make you buy over priced bottled water.
