Stopped by A Salt & Battery and really enjoyed it. The fish was very good fresh, crispy, and cooked perfectly. The chips were just as good, super flavorful and not bland at all. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the food came out quickly, which was a nice bonus. Solid spot if you’re craving classic fish and chips.
it was yummy! i ordered the cod and a side of chips to-go but ended up eating there. the food came in a paper tray wrapped in a large sheet of paper which felt interesting and a bit unique. the batter on the fish was super crunchy, and the cod itself was moist and flaky. the tartar sauce was just okay, not quite what I’m used to. everything is fried to order, so it comes out piping hot. the chips are ordered separately but plated together. they have vinegar and salt on the side for you to add. a little pricey, but overall solid fish and chips that satisfied the craving. service was okay, and the shop itself is cute. just beware if you sit inside the shop, you will end up smelling like oil!
Such a fun little fish & chips spot! The cod was the star of the show, super flavorful and crispy in the best way. The hardock was okay, not really my thing, but still worth a try. Everything came out hot, crunchy, and super satisfying. They also have fun soda drinks to try out too. Great portions, good vibes, and definitely a spot I’d hit again when I’m craving fish & chips.
Outside of Southwark London, these are the best fish and chips we’ve had. It’s a no frills place with a diner feel similar to many small places in England. The curry sauce was also a perfect pairing. The chips were fried perfectly and to the right crisp. Recommended with enthusiasm.
The experience was like a quick trip to the UK for about $30 instead of a $300 flight. The tiny place reminded me of a traditional chip shop somewhere in Greenwich or Romford neighborhoods in London, where I used to stay. My order was fish and chips with mushy peas on the side and a bubbled Dandelion and Burdock drink. The chips came with a flavorful savory sauce. The fish was cooked very well, and my overall experience was very positive.
