85°C Bakery Cafe-Salmon Creek

Visited 85c during their soft opening and had a positive experience. I’ve been a fan of 85°C Bakery ever since visiting Taiwan, so I was happy to see Vancouver get its own location. The store was bright, clean, and welcoming. I went in on a Friday right before noon, the shelves were fully stocked with a wide variety of fresh baked goods. They had an employee actively monitoring the shelves to see what was running low so the kitchen could bake more. The service was efficient and friendly, with smiles from the staff and a full team that kept things moving smoothly even during the busy soft opening, the store was packed! Came during the soft launch at im so happy there's an 85° here in Vancouver! There's tons of pasteries available, clean and friendly staff with quick service. I recommend the choco buns and thier new lemon black tea was perfect, no sweetener needed.

First time at 85. One of the other reviews said it feels like an airport grab n go, and I agree. While the items are (mostly) inexpensive, they are also pretty boring. Got ube bun (ok), bacon bun (ok), chocolate croissant (crispy not flakey and not very good chocolate) and chocolate bun (liked it though it needed more rise). Also got mocha, salted caramel latte, and americano. Coffee is hotel quality. Milk teas looked pretty fancy but I don't like milk tea so not a good judge. Overall - better pastries than Starbucks but coffee was worse. Locally, I think La Provence is a lot better though 85 has a lot of unique flavors. If you are willing to drive, go instead to Jinju (when it reopens), Tabor, or Ken's.

My 2nd time trying 85 degrees. First location I tried was in Seattle. This location is so much nicer, atmosphere wise. Glad to have a location closer thats not in Portland. When I had questions, Chu was nice enough to let me know what some of the pastries were when she was putting them out. Will definitely come again and recommend to my friends and family! 😋

I must, first, acknowledge that I'm a victim of my own expectations. This branch of 85C has been "opening soon" for several months, and I wasn't hugely familiar with the chain, but "Bakery Cafe" brings to the imagination cozy pictures of the smells of fresh coffee and baking bread, sitting with friends or in solitude, enjoying the products of those smells in leisure and comfort. The reality, at this point? Cramped. Crowded. Disorganized. Disappointing. And weirdly unwelcoming. The whole enterprise is strangely set up, to the point that to the uninitiated, the simple act of ordering a drink is cause for confusion. There are electronic kiosks near the door, but they're faced in such a way that it's difficult to spot them, especially between the divergent and poorly marked lines of people w
