One of the easiest and cheapest ways to elevate your home espresso (or any brewing method) is to get better coffee. While it's fairly easy to find and ship good coffee, getting it locally can be trickier. I'm happy to report: I've found it. 9 Bar Espresso makes some amazing roasts that stand above many other local-to-Vancouver offerings. For my first order I picked up a bag of the Ethiopia Guji Natural and their decaf. Many roasters hugely under roast natural processed coffees leaving them overly acidic, or go full city and lose the fruit altogether. This was perfectly balanced. Heavy on the complex fruit without the one-note acidity. The decaf is also above par, without some of the odd nuttier notes you find in some decaf coffees. After getting my coffee station set up, I was on the hunt for coffee beans to construct the “ perfect espresso.” After much experimentation with several roasters, I gave 9Bar a try. So glad I did. I do believe my search is over.

Fantastic coffee, way better than top shelf at your local grocery store for similar $$$. I've been ordering for over a year, trying different blends, and have yet to have a blend I didn't like. Highly recommend! ✌
