2nd Street Public Beach Access

wonderful beach. definitely my favorite i’ve ever been to. it’s beautiful, and usually pretty quiet. even when there are a lot more people than usual (there are never crowds so big it’s annoying or loud), the mood is nice and laid-back. a very nice place for walks on the beach. i 100% recommend getting a beach house here for a nice vacation if you can afford it!

Get to the parking area before sunrise and catch some beautiful views !! Parking can fill up after 7am pretty quickly during peak season!

Great beach and fantastic parking spot for an easy walk to get to the beach. Not very many people there on the Saturday morning that I went.

Pawleys Island proper is about 1 square mile though the minicipality extends onto the mainland and includes a bit of commercial stuff along US-17. The island itself is nearly entirely residential by town law with a ban of commercial buildings. It is laid out with two main avenues - Myrtle Avenue and Atlantic - that extend the length of the island, bisected by 1st St, 2nd St and 3rd St on the north end of the island. I was on the north end near Second Street where there is one of several beach access points that has public parking. There are lots of signs pointing out where parking is not permitted but this was a public area. There is only room for a half-dozen or so vehicles. Great little pull off for parking right there at the beach only issue was getting out just had to back up all the way to the street kinda a tight squeeze but clean an good access to the beach
