2 Twelve Seasonal Kitchen + Bar

Our third visit to ‘2 Twelve’ during seasonal shopping trips to Mebane, this time dining inside for dinner. Our prior two visits were on their patio for lunch (yummy burgers) and dinner (crab cakes, amazing chicken pot pie, coconut cake!). This trip we enjoyed fried oysters, the Southern Egg Rolls special, spicy Honey Sriracha Chichen (with delicious collards), Beef Short Rib Ravioli (rich and amazing), and an encore of coconut cake, cosmos, and wine! We were stuffed! Mixed drinks were well prepared every time! Nice wine selection. The menu adjusts seasonally, and everything so far has been delicious! The patio is fun on a nice day and is heated in cooler weather. Inside is lovely, although a bit bright…it’s on open kitchen concept so I expect cooks need to see what they are doing.

2 Twelve boasted great food, especially for the Mebane downtown scene. On my visit with a friend we arrived to a packed restaurant. Our server expressed that it was the busiest shift she’d ever worked, and there was a lot of noise and energy in the small-ish space. Due to the business, it was loud and we were seated directly beside the kitchen, so when a cook dropped a metal pan I think I jumped a foot in the air! I knocked a star on atmosphere due to the racket, but we had great food and the server was kind, attentive and I’d come back!

This place is one of those places where you look at the menu and instantly want to order one of everything. Thankfully, I managed to narrow it down—but the temptation was real. We started with the Pimento Cheese Hushpuppies, which I had high hopes for. They were a bit over‑fried and dry, with more breading than cheesy center, and the jalapeño bacon jam was watery and didn’t quite complement the hushpuppies. That said, the concept is fun, and with a thicker, chunkier jam, I think they’d really shine. The Fried Oysters, however, were a completely different story. Perfectly breaded, not overly heavy, and full of flavor. My husband—who’s keto and peeled the breading off—still commented on how good the oysters themselves were. My wife and I thought we would give 2 Twelve Seasonal Kitchen a try. I'm glad we did. We enjoyed a nice dinner at an outside table on a beautiful September evening. We started off with a pimento cheese hush puppies appetizer. My wife had the fried goat cheese salad with salmon. I chose the Southern Seafood Platter with Flounder and Shrimp. Both were tasty and well prepared. We also had salad and drinks.

We had a lovely experience dining at 2 Twelve Seasonal Kitchen, especially enjoying the outdoor seating on a beautiful day. The atmosphere outside was relaxed and inviting—perfect for a casual yet elevated meal. To start, we had the crab bisque, which was flavorful and generously portioned. A great way to kick off the meal. I followed that with the bang bang shrimp tacos. The shrimp were nicely fried and had a sweet, satisfying flavor. One small critique: wasn't the biggest fan of the sauce that was just squirted on top. It's a personal preference, but I think it would've enhanced the balance of flavors if it were mixed in.
