1933 Public House

Visited here for the first time recently. It’s quite a lovely restaurant aesthetically. The staff was super friendly. The menu was different for my palate, but what I ordered was good. Bang, bang shrimp was my favorite, the pear was a surprise!

I’ve lived in Powhatan long enough to remember when there were more cows than traffic lights, and I don’t say that as a complaint. There’s something about a small town that teaches you patience. You notice things. You remember places. And you learn very quickly which businesses are here for the right reasons and which ones won’t last. 1933 Public House is the kind of place that lasts. My wife and I went for dinner on a Thursday evening not too long ago. It was one of those cold Virginia nights where you’re grateful for somewhere warm to sit. From the moment we walked in, it just felt comfortable. Not flashy, not trying too hard. Just warm wood, soft lighting, and people who seemed genuinely happy to be there. The young lady at the front greeted us kindly and seated us right away. No fuss,

New Year Eve Family Brunch was amazing. 1933 Public House outdid themselves. The atmosphere, the food, o my the food was amazing. First time ever to have our entire family together. California, North Carolina, Virginia. 5 children, 9 grandchildren. The day was spectacular ✨️. Thank you again 1933 Public House.

This was our first visit to this establishment and we can’t wait to return. Erica was phenomenal! She took time to share more about the restaurant, the specials, happy hours, wine Wednesday, etc. We are new to the area, the entire staff were so friendly & welcoming. The restaurant is super clean and beautifully decorated. We decided to try brunch and had no regrets. I personally loved the mimosa bar! My husband had the French toast and it was delicious. My son had the breakfast burger and couldn’t finish it as it was huge. Also, the bread basket they bring out had homemade biscuits & scones! I think we could have made a meal just out of that. Enjoyed brunch at this restaurant this morning. May was an excellent server and made us feel right at home and not rushed. The mimosas were great but the bloody Mary’s way too spicy for us. (And that was without the jalapeño). All four of us truly enjoyed our food and drinks. Thank you kitchen staff for a great meal and beautiful presentation.
