16th Street Public Beach Access

There is a lot of uncertain information about allowing dogs on the beach here in St. Simons Island. Many beaches on the island DO NOT allow dogs from 9am to 6pm, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. On Independence Day, we went to St. Simons public beach, but dogs weren't allowed, and the parking lot was full, so we went to another nearby place which called 16th street public beach access. This is a residential area, so parking wasn't easy, but parking is free if you can find some space. It's a small beach, but it was very crowded, and of course dogs weren't allowed, so we had a short walk around the residential area. I want to go back during the week though. It's beautiful place!

Wonderful views of the ocean. Great public beach to sit by the inlet during evenings. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

Limited public parking for the amount of guests. Over crowded and congested. Blue mat board walk needs to be replaced or repaired. It’s a safety hazard (especially for handicap). The beach (sand) was fairly clean. I don’t think we will return any time soon. Really really need more parking.

My favorite beach when low tide!! When tide is going out, you can find beautiful shells!

Chill spot with minimal free parking. Short walk to library and playground.
