Zen Japanese Grill & Sushi Bistro

Really enjoyed our visit! The Zen Tonkotsu Ramen was good and flavorful, and the Butter Parmesan Baked Sea Scallops were my absolute favorite — so delicious! I also loved the Crab Stick Tempura and the Call Me Rookie Roll, which has become my go-to. The only miss for me was the Marshmallow Tempura Pie — it was basically a fried moon pie and just not my thing. Overall, great food and a nice spot for sushi and ramen!

We had delicious drinks, an appetizer, and main courses. The Hana Fuji Apple Sake is crisp and sweeter than the Moonstone Plum Sake. The Moonstone is also floral. The pork in the Kiyoken Shao Mai was very flavorful. The spice level is perfect in the Spicy Umami Miso Ramen and the beef was tender in the Shoyu Beef Ramen. Both ramen dishes were topped with a dump truck amount of fried onions. The fish was fresh in the Fantasy Crunchy Roll. Overall, we enjoyed our date night.

Upon entry, building interior looks nice. After sitting down, the lounge couch is very uncomfortable. We have 4 different waiters/waitresses. Definitely did not know who was for our table. Waited about 20 minutes before someone came to get my order. It was a pain to get the wait staff attention since it felt like they kept avoiding my table. Order a Metairie roll for 10 dollars. The rice was dry and not flavored well, it had A LOT of eel sauce covering the taste of the tuna. It was not worth it at all. I also got the zen tonkotsu ramen. The bowl had a TON of fried onions all over it to where you can't taste anything but onion soup. It had mushrooms in it but they were SOUR. The egg was hard boiled (overcooked). Food was amazing. My wife and I ordered sashimi and a couple sushi rolls. Was some of the best food we've ever eaten.

This is a solid spot for sushi. I enjoy the bowls and my wife enjoyed crab Naruto. Sushi was fresh and stuff friendly. Inside there isn't anything that stands out as spectacular but it is clean amd modern dining room.
