Everything was 5 stars for me. The food was just as visually appealing as it was good. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. My wife loves the spicy scallops maki.

I had an outstanding experience at Yama in Wellesley. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was incredible — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can really tell they care about quality and consistency. The atmosphere was just as impressive — clean, comfortable, and perfect for both a casual meal or a special night out. Thank you to the entire team for such a great dining experience. We will absolutely be back!

We ordered a few different sushi rolls and were extremely disappointed. The rolls all tasted super fishy and not fresh at all. Also, the salmon and tuna was literally chewy and had a super distinct and unusual taste. I was super excited to try this place because I absolutely love sushi but unfortunately we won’t be returning. We ended up having to throw everything away since it was not edible.

Yama in Wellesley is one of those places that quietly steals your heart. Warm, family-friendly, and refreshingly unpretentious, it’s the kind of restaurant that makes you slow down, relax, and actually enjoy your meal. First of all—bring your own wine. Not only is it welcomed, but they’ll open and serve it for you at no charge, which already feels like a small act of hospitality magic. 🍷 Now, the food: the Fire Dragon is a must—bold, flavorful, and just the right amount of exciting. The noodles are excellent, perfectly cooked, and comforting in that “I’ll be thinking about this tomorrow” kind of way. My spouse and I have been coming to Yama for over 20 years, and we have always enjoyed meals together, with family and with friends. The meals are well prepared and attractively plated. Service is personable and excellent even when they are busy. [As an observation more than criticism, Asian restaurants in general have had to struggle obtaining and affording top quality rice of all sorts, from Japanese-grown short grain to premium Indian basmati. Unfortunately, it seems Yama is no exception — the rice is good and acceptable, but not exceptional.] Lunch bento boxes and sashimi/sushi specials are excellent and good value.
