Yakitori 39

Food There's a variety in the menu and the food is great. We ordered about at least 6 skewers with Ramen. Ramen was good, forgot the name sorry. Clam skewer is small though, but good. Highball was nice and strong. Service Do not expect the servers to be like Applebee's. They're just there to take your order and deliver your food. That's just how it is. Atmosphere It almost felt like I was in Japan. The vibe there is just like meeting your friends after a long day of work to drink and talk while eating current day price skewers. Parking There's no parking lot.

Been here twice we went back cause we don’t have much good Yakitori options in the town. Food is good overall we had fried calamari and some Yakitoris. But I don’t like how servers hand me over the paying machine at my seat, very uncomfortable to tip as the server was looking at the machine while standing next to us. I wouldn’t mind if the service was good but 2/5 service

Yakitori 39 is rough around the edges, but that's part of it's charm. It does remind me of tiny local yakitori joints in Japan. The food is good, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is authentic. However, the place can get smoky at times, so beware if your lungs are sensitive. Also, the single-stall bathroom is clean but barely insulated from the elements. All in all, I've been here a couple of times and always enjoyed myself.

my partner is very into yakitori and we make a point to try different yakitori places when we come across them. we drove by yakitori 39 on the way downstate and knew we needed to make a stop. the food is really incredible, and very reasonably priced (about $4/skewer, and more for full plates and specials). the specials menu is long, the food arrives quickly, and the environment is really laid back - this is a proper izakaya.

This spot had been on my ‘want-to-go’ list for years, and we finally went last night. We focused solely on yakitori, skipping sushi and ramen (easily found elsewhere), and paired it with Japanese shouchu on the rocks instead of beer or wine. The yakitori was perfectly prepared, and we were glad to see Japanese chefs using traditional cooking methods, including smoking! Pro tip: don’t order all at once. Order yakitori in batches to enjoy it fresh and at the best temperature. Ordering directly from the Japanese owner in Japanese made the experience even more special. He was so kind! We’ll definitely return and bring more friends next time!
