Customer Reviews
The food was good overall, but the service was about three-star. The first time we went, we sat at the bar and had to ask multiple times just to get our water refilled. We also had to flag the bartender down for a to-go box and the check. The cocktails were honestly pretty bad. Not trying to be rude, but the lychee berry martini was very unbalanced and hard to drink. The second time we visited, we were told we couldn’t sit at the bar table, even though it was completely empty, because we weren’t a party of six. We ended up sitting in the dining area to follow their rules. Once again, the food was good, but the cocktail was a miss. This time it was the spicy margarita, which tasted like watered-down lime juice with spice. I couldn’t finish it, it was so gross. Additionally, there was very
Very nice dining, great place for date night or to take your family. Cool chairs and artwork to look at. The people that work there are super sweet and helpful, the food is excellent, veggies are crisp/colorful/fresh, love the mapo tofu! Dumplings are wonderful esp XLBs and chili pork. We love the downtown location but we like this one better and we'll definitely be back!
We had our team dinner at Xin Ding Dumpling House in Sellwood, Portland, and it was absolutely amazing! The food was phenomenal, every dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The service was top-notch, and a special shout-out to our server Jing Yi, who was incredible and truly made the night memorable. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. She even took the BEST photos! Our team had the best night and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you’re looking for authentic, delicious dumplings and outstanding service, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!
• Overpriced and underwhelming. The value proposition here is nonexistent. • The "Special" is a misnomer. The lunch portion of rice is minuscule, and the quality is even smaller. • Total lack of "Wok Hei." The vegetable fried rice was bland and completely lacked that signature smoky, charred flavor essential to a good stir-fry. • Watered-down quality. The Beef Broccoli was swimming in a thin, flavorless liquid rather than a proper sauce (see attached photo). 🚩Forced tipping for takeout. • I’m not a fan of being forced into a tip for a basic takeout order. • The staff processed the payment on a tablet where I wasn't given the opportunity to select my tip amount or decline it.By the time I saw the charge, it was already done. • Silver lining. I live in the building and wanted to love this
Having gone to university in Boston I was spoiled with an establishment called Gourmet Dumpling House. It was the absolute best Chinese cuisine I had the pleasure to experience in my life. After leaving Boston and their closure to the pandemic I’ve been searching for a proper replacement for years to no avail. I recently became aware Xing Ding Dumpling House in Sellwood and after going there I can now say I’ve found Gourmet Dumpling House’s equal. The menu is large, and there are a variety of options. If you’ve got gluten intolerant, or plant based friends you’ll find there’s a plethora of options for everyone. To give an example of how good the food is my partner is famously spicy-food intolerant. The menu denotes spice on the amount of pepper symbols on it. She decided something with o
