Woodstock Public Library

This library is, and has been, the heart of the community for the decades we've lived here. When we moved here long ago our kids were little and the library was like their second home. The staff are genuinely friendly, caring, and professional. The library itself is well stocked with a wide variety of offerings for all ages. The children's department has Themed backpacks available to check out, quiet safe play area, great selection of books. The large fish aquarium between the front entrance and the children's department is a big hit with all ages. Every time I have talked with one of the reference librarians, they have been so helpful. In general, the staff who oversee the public computers are quite helpful. However, a special shoutout & praise are given by me to Keeley. She is especially helpful, friendly , and has a radiantly happy personality. That makes the library experience very enjoyable.

02/20/2026 Special Needs and new to the area,. went here (02/19/2026) yesterday to pick up some items. Was in a rush due to a family medical emergency, and accidentally forgot to scan some items. Innocent mistake. Didn't even realize till I saw a voicemail from Nick Weber the director accusing me of stealing. They threatened to call the cops on an innocent special needs person who made 1 innocent mistake and press charges. Brought the items back, have been dealing with Martha and they refused to let me check them out. Everyone up front came out and was staring at me like I was an R WORD or something. Claimed I hit the checkout limit. No one told me there was a checkout limit when i first signed up for my card. In fact, if memory serves, i was told there is no checkout limit for Local car

For a public library, it's pretty poor... The reference staff is very solid...always polite, always informative. And the library's layout is nice too -- a credit to the designers. Unfortunately, there are too few quiet areas in the space; save the study rooms; which are typically full. A Draconian cadre of doughy and underpaid youths will come around and reprimand patrons (like me) who close the doors to the reading room...a room whose doors are meant to be closed (that's why there are doors there). Additionally, the adult programs, compared to other libraries, are WAY lacking... A look at the events page and there's little to nothing on the agenda, ever. Are there any adult reading groups, adult writing groups? No. Is anyone on the library board or staff advocating for such programs? Pro

It's always a Jessica w/ a bratty kid who gives you 1 star an whines about things like "Your Kids Section Lacks a Heartbeat".. She also had her boyfriend Jason w/ no last name leave 2 stars to really passively aggressive drive home her whining & anger at having staff discipline her child cause she cant.. This is how Jessica, daughter of Karen rolls when it comes to slamming a public libraries children's section.. Wahhhh. Woodstock Public Library. Your children's section is spot on.. It's Perfect..
