Wilkes Country Deli

This place is awesome but I live locally and can tell there is less foot traffic these days. Demographics are changing, that's fortunate or unfortunate depending on your political views. Wilkes may have to adapt or they won't be around in 5 years.

Wilkes Country Deli is the absolute best!!! The two ladies (Kathy, and the other name slips my mind) who run it are amazing. The food is outstanding and reasonably priced. They have different inventive soups that are good. Their chili and the meatloaf are lights out. I love the turkey croissant sandwich (with cranberry mayo) and my brother loves the Godmother (grilled balsamic chicken, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, red onion, mixed greens & red pepper-basil spread on a grilled hero roll). Their buffalo chicken sandwich with avocado is amazing too...can't go wrong here....

I visit Kris and Kathy daily for lunch, they make absolutely the best chicken noodle soup I've ever had. All the food is delicious. I love their fresh home made roast beef sandwiches, their chicken salad, macaroni salads are so good too. Cant go wrong with their chicken cutlet sandwiches either. I'm posting this today because they are closed for the Christmas/New Years break, which is overly-well deserved, but I am in withdrawal right now, lol. That is how amazing the food is to me. These girls work very hard and make all their food with love. All local businesses should try them out. But be warned, you may end up going their every day for breakfast and/or lunch. :P

Ordered a breakfast sandwich called The Big One and it comes with 3 meats, egg, hash browns & cheese on a long roll and it was paper thin like there was i piece of each meat & 1 egg, 1 small hash brown, & 1 slice of cheese. It was a waste of money and tasted like crap.

I have come here every workday for the past 6-7 years for lunch. Love the specials and the regular items. Food is always fresh (except for the grape tomatoes for some strange reason) and tasty! I try to eat somewhat healthy and there is always something to have on the specials menu but when I crave "comfort" food they never disappoint. Great gals who work there too!
