Whitefish Bay Public Library

Whitefish Bay has an incredible library. Not only is it the library itself, but a venue for hosting seminars, author events, classes, book clubs, voting and more. The space itself is very open, well organized and staffed with very helpful people. The kids area is a great place to take kids/grandkids for some activity on a cold day. Storytime is at 10:00, which fills up pretty quick. Easily accessible bins of books, a wooden train set table, large kitchen station with all the accessories, puzzles, magnetic tiles and more give little fingers plenty to do. Spending a couple hours here during a drab winter day is always time well spent.

Can u guess what anthropologists theorize was a contributing factor in the extinction of the Neanderthals? Answer innovation. While our ancestors improved tools and hunting techniques and migrated to better areas for the game, the Neanderthals didn't. Evolve or die. Now, the treasure I found here was the take and tinkers. Through exploration, a person's mind can be expanded, and new ideas can no doubt spring forth later. I also like the Frank Lloyd Wright mission style of the building.

Traveled all the way to Whitefish Bay from out of town on a vital ichthyological mission: to behold the legendary Great White Fish. Instead, I stumbled into this... 'library'? At first, I was gutted – no gills, no fins, just a suspicious number of books. But hey, the staff were lovely (even when I subtly asked if the fish were kept in the back) and the WiFi password was a real catch! So, five stars for accidental literacy and excellent internet. The fish, however, remains elusive.

The library staff are always friendly and helpful. The pick-up lockers are nice because if you place an item on hold, you can pick it up at any time via the lockers, even if the library is closed. There is a used book sale room in the front where I always find gently used books. $1 for paperback and $2 for hardcovers.

The Whitefish Bay Public Library is beautiful. It has a wonderful children's section and great programming. The librarian is responsive and kind. I have used the private study rooms for tutoring for several years and never had a problem. The library is clean and quiet. The upstairs rooms are available for rent for private meetings. All in all, this library is accommodating, friendly, clean and well equipped. Whitefish Bay is fortunate to have it.
