West End 2

We were after the snow. Free admission. Plenty of parking. There's a short trail (about 15 minutes walk) to the beach itself. We saw fins of several sharks. There are many interesting shells on the sand. The kids had a great time. Bring a coat because it's windy.

Westernmost parking lot is the most convenient one for hiking the marked loop trail, starting from West End 2 picnic area and heading to the ocean-side at an angle (deep sand walk) and then along western shore to bay side where you can return back to the parking lot. Lot is more popular with fishermen than with general public (longer walk to the beach than from other fields). Beautiful ocean and dune views along the hike.

best shoreline and dunes north of the carolinas. long stretch of sand in order to access the shore is one of its core amenities. if you desire therapuetic solitude open space open sky then this is place. great wild surf many times throughiut the year.

Quiet Beach, not much going on. Light on amenities, but you can bring your own stuff, the beach and ocean are just as nice as the much busier Jones Beach. The bike path to Jones Beach connects you to West End 1, the Boat Basin easily. The Energy and Conservation Center is an interesting building and nice to visit. the restrooms are new.

West End 2 is one of the jewels of New York State! Miles of undeveloped shoreline where you can take a liesurely stroll along miles of beautiful, sparsely populated beach, swim or fish in the ocean, or just relax in the sun. Bathrooms and showers (seasonal) are also available.
