Wanchese Inn Bed & Breakfast

Absolutely a wonderful place to stay on Roanoke Island. It is separated from the more crowded beach areas (Nags Head, etc.) and a couple miles down from Manteo, which has several attractions of its own. But if you're looking to visit the Outer Banks and want to stay a bit "out of the way" or want a more quiet experience, try the Wanchese Inn. Wanchese is a quiet working community so traffic isn't too bad and it's not as crowded. I personally found it refreshing. Lynn and Bill, who run the inn, are super nice. Lynn prepares the breakfast every morning and does a very nice job. They're both very pleasant to talk to and kindhearted. The price of the stay is reasonable. Hotels in the beach areas charge about the same price, but I think staying here was more pleasant.

We stayed here almost a year ago - but I have not used Trip Advisor much until recently. We enjoyed our stay and Wanchese Inn so much I had to come back and leave a review.||||The house is charming and very clean. The room was comfortable. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the OBX, but close enough to drive there in minutes - something we really liked!||||Breakfast was different every morning. Lynn puts out a great spread with homemade hot food, plus fruit and bread of some sort. It was all extremely good.||||The best part were the hosts. Lovely B&B! Our previous reservation at another B&B was disrupted and we had to leave. Owners at Wanchese Inn were kind enought to book us a room at the last second. House is adorable! Very clean and comfy. Our room was great. Very friendly people. Great homemade breakfast. Can't wait to go back!

This place is the best kept secret of the outer banks! Lynn and Bill are amazing hosts! I stayed here with my friend for a long weekend. We enjoyed everything about this Bed and Breakfast. Honesty you can't beat the location, it's off the beaten path away from touristy part of the island. You can easily access Nags Head and the National Seashore. Lynn makes a great breakfast, and is fun to converse with. She is knowledgeable about the area and can give dinning suggestions upon arrival. She makes wonderful cookies too. Beach towels are provided to guests. The house has lots of spots to sit and relax. I felt very much at home here. We would stay here again and highly recommend this location . Lynn and Bill are pretty easy to talk to and work with. Lynn is pretty available if you need anything. My wife and I are clean freaks and appreciated how well kept the inn was. Lynn's breakfast was good and helped us save some money. Frankly, given the price, the fact that we were alone at the inn since it was during the off season, the amenities such as the front and back deck and screened-in porch, and generally not having to deal with hotel difficulties and people; I don't understand why anyone would go anywhere else. Except if you have young children. The inn is located where everything around is a relatively short drive away. If we go back to the Outer Banks, which we probably will, we will definitely stay here and half the reason we'd go back is because we'd be able to stay at the in
