Violet Crumb

I have been patiently waiting for the artistic genius of Violet Crumb to open its first brick and mortar location and let me tell you…. It was worth the wait! The donuts have an exquisite texture that is more decadent and cake like and the toppings/flavors/names and vibe are off the chart! Lavender London Fog and Pumpkin Whoopie Pie were to die for! My dozen donuts went faster than I had expected and I can’t wait for the next batch!!!! So amazing to see a family owned business local to Wheaton grow and bring such a unique and delicious offering to the western suburbs. I’ve got a new fave treat spot!!

I have been a huge fan for a few years now so I was very excited to visit the new location. Everything here was amazing from the atmosphere the second you walk in to the last crumb left in my box. I of course washed it all down with a nice fresh cup of their delicious cold brew. I can’t wait to go back and buy another dozen. Although a dozen Violet Crumb donuts doesn’t last too long in my house 😂

Let me start by saying I’m a huge donut fan — I’ve tried shops all over the country and was genuinely excited to see Violet Crumb open after such a long wait. The staff is wonderful and the space itself has a good vibe, so I really wanted to love it. We ordered ½ dozen donuts. Old Fashioned Powered, Lavinder London Fog, Pumpkin Whoopie Pie and the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and a few others. Creative names. That said, the donuts just weren’t quite we hoped for. They taste and look less than what you’d expect from a premium donut shop, and the prices are very high for what you get. Similar prices to Firecakes or Stans, but maybe higher because Violet’s donuts are smaller. So… the size, flavor and texture didn’t match the presentation or the cost. This donut shop is an absolute gem! 🍩 Every flavor is so creative and unique — you can tell a lot of love and imagination goes into each one. The donuts aren’t just delicious; they’re next-level outstanding from flavoring to that cake bite texture. The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. And the shop itself? Totally adorable — the kind of place that makes you smile the moment you walk in. If you haven’t been yet, you’re seriously missing out!

I’d been eagerly waiting for this place to open, so I was really excited to see that it finally did! They currently have limited hours and a smaller menu during their opening weeks, but that didn’t stop me from checking it out. The shop itself is super cute and in a great location. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. When I got there, they had three donut options available — S’mores, Birthday Crumb, and Apple Pie. All looked amazing — definitely more elevated than your typical chain donut. And then… I saw the price. Four donuts came to $20. A bit of an ouch moment, but they looked so good that I decided to go for it anyway. I picked up two S’mores, one Apple Pie, and one Birthday Crumb.
