Heard great things about this place... The inn itself has a warm, cozy feeling , live music was great. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful. I gave the low stars for the food. Our drinks and appetizer were delicious. However, our steaks were not edible. So much gristle that my husband couldnt eat his. I had the lobster filet . The smell of the lobster was so fishy and it was disgusting. It made the entire plate smell of fish and taste of fish. Old fish that is. Thankful for the live music, friendly waitress and one good appetizer. Correction, we had onion soup that came with our steak. The soup was delicious. Also ordered a pizza to go because we were still hungry. Pizza was just ok. Other than that, complete waist of $150 in steak. After discussing with friends that sent us, their re

I had a friend in Newport who recommended this place. Beautiful, architecturally interesting farmhouse with eclectic interior design. The kitchen was a bit behind, but they were upfront about the wait and the server was engaging, and the manager came around to talk to us during the wait. I enjoyed the lobster stuffed filet, and was shocked to see the huge chunks of crustacean packed into the meal, which was frankly too large to finish in one sitting. French onion soup had unreal quantities of Gruyère and a terrific crouton, and the addition of a Quahog to every entree was welcome. My friends had scallops and salmon, which they were suspiciously reluctant to share. Wine menu was solid, with a wonderful Malbec to accompany the surf and turf. Charmingly, they had old menus and a history at th

The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing. Warm with an odd vibe. One of the family owners was gracious in giving the history of the house. He was what made the evening memorable. The low points were regarding service. The server had no idea about menu items , seafood market prices or even dessert options. My guest's request for salt and pepper were not provided. When my guest mentioned it after she had finished eating it was offered to get them for her. Don't we all love salt and pepper for desert? The inattentive server provided lukewarm food and long waits for any attention regarding drinks. Too bad because the beautifully prepared food would have been worth the pricing had it been served hot.

Very good food. I was sitting next to a window and was freezing. The table was a little rickety. Our server was awesome. I had the pizza which was a full-sized pizza and yummy. The others had the onion soup and the angry pasta. They loved it. I had a spoonful of the soup and it was divine!!

I can vouch for the other reviews! Had a very pleasant, satisfying and delicious meal here at Valley Inn on Fri March 17th! No St Patrick’s Day specialties but we came for the Italian dishes. The white pizza was delicious! I couldn’t decide between soup or salad- I had the salad. The blue cheese dressing was pungent and delicious! The French Onion reviewers were raving!!! I had the pasta Mario. I would have preferred Angel hair over Penne but the shrimp and clams were delicious with a flavorful garlic finish. Yes, the Bread was hard but we let it sit for a while because we requested the owner to tell us the ghost story of this historical ((1673) building! A very entertaining, impressive, jaw dropping Ghost and back story of the original house. Cant wait to find out more! We will
