We ordered a cheeseburger and a steak wrap. They came with fries that had a burnt and overly salty taste. The cheeseburger was completely cold. The bun was cold and the patty was cold. It was not warm at all. The wrap was not good either, it tasted dry. I am honestly surprised this place has so many good reviews because the food was absolutely not tasty. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice, and that is it. It is definitely not a place worth coming back to.
Urban Plates is a great go-to spot in Pleasant Hill when you want something fresh, healthy, and still really flavorful. The menu has a wide variety of options — from protein plates to salads and bowls — and everything tastes clean, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully prepared. The portions are generous, ingredients feel high quality, and it’s easy to find something whether you’re eating light or craving something more filling. The space is modern and comfortable, and service is fast and friendly. Perfect for a quick lunch, dinner, or takeout when you want something that feels both nutritious and satisfying.
I ordered the blackened salmon with sides of parmesan topped mushrooms and mac n cheese. The salmon and mushrooms were delicious and the mac n cheese was acceptable. It's a little expensive but so is everywhere nowadays. I can tell the quality of the ingredients is high. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead if 5 for service is that it took about 25 minutes for my food to come out when it wasn't busy. When it's in my budget I'll be back.
We wanted to try something different, so we stopped by this place. I tried the ribs and my wife tried the shrimp plate. The ribs were fatty and the sauce was too sweet. The meat was warm when served. I knew they were baked but I expected better. The macaroni was cold. The wife's plate was a bit disappointing as well. The rice was not good and the shrimp was bland. Lastly, they don't serve name brand drinks. I'm okay with that but at $450 for a generic cola, the flavor was not good. Even if it's a healthier alternative, it should not have a taste that ruins your dining experience. In all fairness, the staff was great and the decor was inviting.
I normally hate salads, but was recommended a steak salad by an acquaintance. Dylan and the team did a great job. One thing I'd recommend though if you don't like salads all that much, ask for a bit more dressing 😂
