True Food Kitchen

I guess a picture is worth a thousand words! This was supposed to be a fresh house made medium cooked burger! Well it was burnt dry with an extremely stale bun and the fries came out stale and cold! If I was to guess I would say it was sitting in the kitchen for a few days before hitting our table! I have to add the dumplings were nice but my wife’s turkey burger wasn’t that good either ! And yes her fries were the same !

Very nicely designed modern restaurant. Smoke interior seating. Upon entering we were greeted and seated immediately by a kind host. Our server, Raul, was very attentive and helpful when we asked for menu recommendations. He also stopped to check in on our table regularly and noticed when we dropped a steak knife and brought one to us right away without us having to ask. So overall excellent service. The food was top notch as well. We ordered the charred cauliflower, steak frites, spaghetti squash, and kale aid drink. Loved the fresh squeezed kale aid it was perfectly balanced with the sweetness of apple and spiciness from ginger. The entrees were delicious. Will be back again.

Went to True Food Kitchen for brunch today and expected so much more. We’ve been here a few times and it was average at best. As vegetarians we look for great places that have some nice vegetarian options and there weren’t many, and definitely not good ones. Tofu scramble was more like cubed, lukewarm tofu tossed with peppers and.. who knows what else. Ranchers Hash was better (especially the veggies) but the eggs were too salty. The sweet potatoes were great though. Blueberry Pancakes were pretty good but not anything to remember. Pretty simple, kinda grainy, compote and jam was good. Also, I found a small hair in my food. Kinda gross. Service wasn’t great, either. It took very long to get our fries and they definitely were sitting there a few minutes before served. Had to ask two dif

One of my fav places. Actually tried a different dish today - the Asian chicken salad. So yummy! It didn’t look like there was enough dressing but it adds the perfect balance and is clearly made in-house. We also ordered a pizza, which was amazing (I love bread but don’t like a lot of thick, heavy dough. It’s perfect! L) Service from Kidus at the bar was wonderful. Very attentive but not in your face. Great bonus you get discounts through the InKind app. Recommend in VA and MD locs.

I visited the Bethesda True Food Kitchen for the first time during my lunch break and was unfortunately disappointed. I ordered the All-American burger, lettuce-wrapped, with a side of honey-glazed carrots. What I received was a plain patty with two loose lettuce leaves, cheese barely scattered on top, and no sauce or condiments—despite them being listed in the burger’s description. For a $26 entrée, the presentation and execution were underwhelming and felt unfinished. Thankfully, I was using a gift card rather than my own money. I hope this experience isn’t representative of the overall quality of the food being served, but based on this visit, it missed the mark.
