*disclaimer this is a takeout review, will update when I go in person* The reviews for this place seem hit or miss, and I can understand that sentiment. I think if I ordered solely based on the glowing reviews, it would be misleading. However I think the bad reviews miss the mark as well. First thing is that if you want to order pickup, you gotta go old fashioned and call! Honestly didn’t hate this, but some transparency on the website would be good. The food was fresh at pickup and they even threw in some free bread when we asked. Great pickup experience and from the peek around the corner, the vibes of the place are cozy and would be nice in the future for a visit. In general, the pasta was flavorful. I'm a monthly regular but life got busy and I missed the changes. Tonight was my first visit post changes and it was delightful. There was a welcoming atmosphere (including the namesake present), great music in the background and as promised the upgraded dishes-rich flavorful French onion soup, whole branzino with tasty olive dressing ( too much to consume but will make for a satisfying lunch tomorrow), an upgraded drink menu including a great Manhattan and wine list, and a beautiful creme brulee. I had heard a lot of wonderful things about this restaurant, so it would be hard to live up to my expectations. The food was very good. We loved the crispy broccoli, the lasagna, and the gnocchi. My husband really liked the flourless chocolate almond cake. I thought it was good but didn't love the texture. I had expected a fancier restaurant, so I thought the atmosphere was just okay. I did like the fact that it was quiet. So many restaurants are too loud these days.

I visited Trattoria da Lina around Easter this year, and as an Italian, I can confidently say I will not be returning. The food was highly disappointing, and the service was just average. The orecchiette dish, in particular, stood out for all the wrong reasons. The sauce lacked flavor, and the dish was topped with what appeared to be fake parmesan cheese—more reminiscent of shredded paper than actual cheese.

Outstanding Italian food. Meatballs are excellent. They provide Italian bread for the table. Lamb chops were quite good. Even the spinach was good. Service was friendly and efficient. The ricotta dessert was superb. I also tried the chicken parmesan and it was tasty. The serving size was enough to share.
