This is my first time trying Nigerian food and I was very pleasantly surprised. Egusi and pounded yam with jollof rice. A bit expensive on paper, but very hearty and had enough leftovers for another meal, so not too bad and understandable considering there are no other Nigerian places in the valley. The egusi was delicious and full of flavor and the fufu compliments it very well. The jollof rice is solid, but is better when paired with something else. The people were very nice and welcoming considering how new I was to the food. Will definitely come back and bring a friend. Give this place some love and try it out. It is worth a try especially if you never have.
I don’t know what it is about Africans and Caribbean’s opening up businesses in LA, and not staying true to their authenticity. There was literally nothing jollof about the rice, no flavor/no pepper, no seasoning. The goat was tender, but definitely not the flavor profiles that I was looking for. I also ordered a meat pie that was as consistent as the other dishes. Overall disappointing. Sorry💔
I prob should have read the reviews. I live in the Valley and wanted something closer so I cheated on Aduke. Big mistake. I ordered jolloff rice with goat meat and they gave me 3 tiny pieces of meat. Not for 26.00. Smh. She was very nice but she was wrong for this small meat. Rice ok. I would have wanted to taste some spice. Added okra. Sad it didn't work out. Hate driving all the way to Inglewood for good African food.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ The egusi soup was absolutely delicious — rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned with just the right blend of spices. Every bite was comforting and full of authentic taste that made me want more. The only downside (and the reason it’s not a 5-star review) is the portion size. For the price, I expected a bit more — it was gone way too fast! Still, the flavor alone makes it worth trying again. Would definitely stop by again to try other dishes.
The food was absolutely delicious! The red stew was sweet, savory and just the right amount of spicy. (Which was on the vegan menu, came with the side of fufu.) Fufu was nice and sticky, hand pounded yam. Plaintains came as a side item, very caramelized rich and sweet with a beautiful consistency, perfectly ripe. If you want a full meal with Okra and fufu it is around $20, but this is authentic and yummy. Delicious and unique flavors. Will definitely try again.
