Top Shelf Mexican Food & Cantina

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Lots of lunch specials, but tried the basic two chicken tacos combo for $13. Huge tacos, all white meat, creamy beans and good rice, chips and salsa. Excellent lunch and nice waitress.

So, I had not been to a Top Shelf Restaurant in, probably, over 25 years. ( maybe more🫢) The 2 or 3 times I did go, I was not impressed with the food. I decided to give it another try. Glad I did. Stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon, seated (by request) on patio. Entire patio to my self ❤️. Reed, my server, showed up seconds later with chips ands salsa. I placed my order, house margarita and #H lunch special. 2 Tacos rice and beans. (Shredded beef taco) Showed up a few minutes later with the drink. (I think they forgot to add the tequila. It was so weak I couldn’t even finish it. (Should have sent it back, but I didn’t) Salsa was ok. Nothing special, no real spice to it. Food arrived about 5-8 mins later. Have been going here for 20 years. Ate lunch here January 5th.. I dont know what has happened the plates are smaller, the serving is smaller , and prices higher.. will not be going back if this is what Top Shelf is becoming. Loosing a long time loyal customer. Service was still good and atmosphere but we go there for good food or did.

Love this location so sad to see it close after like 4 decades. Much love to all of the staff that are not going to the Arrowhead location. Good luck and thank you so much for always taking care of my parents when they came in on their own. Cindy, my Mom loved talking to you and my Dad was always impressed with your memory.

We once tried this place about 8 years ago, the food was not very good then, but edible. We tried it again last night with some friends because of the nice patio. You think by now they would have tasted the multitude of Mexican restaurants in the valley and improve their frozen, cafeteria style food. I guess not. Again, it is edible, but there are so many better choices out there. We the lite fish tacos, you think it would be served with black beans and an actual salad as described. Instead they slapped refried beans on the plate and the salad is a few pieces of iceberg lettuce. Seriously? Come here for a beer and a simple quesidilla and enjoy the atmosphere, but do yourself a favor and have dinner elsewhere.
