Hidden gem! If every sandwich and meal is as good as the Shrimp Po Boy this place is a must for any time of day - breakfast, lunch, dinner. From the outside it looks like a regular convenience spot but the large deli counter makes it feel like a classic diner spot. Not to mention the cafè/cortadito!!! Nelson is the man!!!
Dude the food is phenomenal but is anyone talking about the coffee???? This is the best coffee I have ever had in my entire life and I’m not being dramatic. I drink my coffee plain black and you can taste the smokiness, richness, the aroma is prestige and it’s not acidic. The owner said it’s real Cuban coffee and I believe it. Will be coming here every morning for this!
We got the grass fed beef meatloaf with homemade mashed potatoes and tomatoes confit and it was incredible! We also got some freshly squeezed orange juice, which was made right in front of us to order. You can see everything is super fresh! My husband also enjoyed a beer. Highly recommend!
What a great find, a couple of blocks north of Swinton, on W Atlantic, across from the police station. An old school counter service high quality food emporium, reminiscent of a Woolworth 5 and dime, with an impeccably clean modern twist. Nelson, the chef owner, is extremely likable and he will do well, as he fits a niche that is rare for downtown Delray….quality food at down to earth prices. It was tough to choose between the many great sounding luncheon items, it boiled down to either the Jerk chicken special or the Cuban, I went with the Cuban and it was excellent. Perfectly seasoned and brined pork, combined with ham, cheese, pickles and mustard, done panini style. They will begin dinner service April 1st and my guess is it will be a highly sought after seating spot at that cool count
The food is cooked to order. The freshness of the food ingredients and specials are to die for. The open concept kitchen shows the cleanliness and care the hive for the kitchen. I will be coming back to this place the next time I’m in delray. Thanks to Chef Johnny for explaining the ingredients in the specials since my daughter has food allergies.
