Customer Reviews
The location is great, you are right next to the river. Outdoor seating is cozy. The food is okay, not what it used to be. The staff was dismissive and unfriendly, and they did not get our order correct. We ordered hot dogs, onion rings, French fries, a fish sandwich, clam strips, and shakes. The onions were a bit raw but edible. The clam strips were good. The French fries were ok. The lady who took our order was barefoot and extremely dismissive. She snapped when asked questions and did not put our order in correctly. When we ordered a 2nd shake, she gave a big sigh and yelled across to a co-worker to also make a vanilla shake. It seemed to be an inconvenience to her, even though she hadn't totaled the order yet. They did fix their mistakes, without an apology and forced one of us to wait
Our group of eight drove an hour on the reputation of White Cottage and we were not disappointed! A friend in Florida had told us that people from all over the country go to White Cottage for their amazing whole-belly fried clams. They are worth a Michelin Star! But so is everything else on their menu.
Ate here a few months ago. I’ve driven by it hundreds of times and am angry at myself for not eating here sooner. I just thought it was an ice cream shop. We ordered the new englander platters along with some extra fries and onion rings. Everything was great! Big pieces of fish and the clams were good sized not the small little pieces you usually see at other places. Fries and onion rings were nice and crispy. Cold slaw was delicious. We were too full for ice cream so we passed on it this time. Place was extremely clean and neat. Nice open space and nice sized tables. Service was great. When we went it wasn’t crowded at all. Everyone that worked there were friendly and the wait time was short. Parking wasn’t an issue at all. Best part is the location. They’re located right on the Ottauquec
Update to my review: Due to the ignorant response, I down graded. So the booths that I referred to where the INSIDE ones on the side I got my food. We did NOT sit outside because it was cold out and raining that day! Use your brain much?, maybe not everyone who visits you goes outside. Maybe they have a disability and cannot do that? or maybe it was just raining! I though people would like to know how much seating is inside on the side we sat. Yes, it is pricey as compared to the other restaurants in the area from our experience in the area. That is a personal opinion. I had ONE normal sized hotdog (pork/chicken, not even beef) nothing comes with it. it was $5. to me that is overpriced. I said a little pricey.
A must have when visiting VT! Love to sit outside and enjoy the river! TBH....I have never had thr ice cream, but the clam strips and burgers are great!
