The Whip Tavern

The Whip Tavern is a bit in the boondocks, but it has a crowded (free) valet parking area. Inside, the atmosphere is rustic yet cozy—very English pub–style. You can tell this place gets packed with locals, making it feel like a hidden gem. The servers definitely expect you to have a reservation, so it’s highly recommended. There’s a nice selection of beers to choose from. The Scotch egg was decent. The soups were a bit disappointing especially the mushroom soup, which wasn’t the creamy mushroom soup most people would expect. It was very bland.. tasted healthy. That said, I was blown away by the weekend special beef Wellington. The bangers and mash were pretty good as well. The English toffee pudding was excellent! Overall, the prices weren’t bad. "A little piece of home" from the second I walked in I felt like I'd walked in a pub at home in Nottingham England. I was totally spoiled for choice with the options on the menu but the the number one food I miss from the uk is sausages so bangers and mash was the obvious choice. I now have to go back again sometime soon for the fish and chips but then I have to make the difficult decision to get mushy pees or curry sauce. I guess I could get both. Since then I also heard they do an amazing full English breakfast (brunch) so I guess what I'm saying is, "it's bloody lovely at the Whip and I'm gonna make it me second home!"

One of our local favorites in the middle of nowhere. Always great service, food, beer and friendly patrons.

We stopped in on our way home from Deleware. Parking is a bit of an issue, but the service was great and the food was outstanding. Probably the best shepherds pie I have had outside of England. Prices were compatible with other restaurants. Place was packed but we took a seat at the bar and had a great time. Locals were super friendly. Only issue was when we went to leave someone had parked us in.

Wonderful and aesthetically pleasing kind of atmosphere with amazing eats! We have celebrated 2 holiday parties here, once in 2023, once in 2024. We plan on doing our next holiday party here again in 2025. Recently met a friend for lunch here and it’s now our go to spot to meet up. Service can be a bit hectic, but it’s always compassionate and they are up front and honest when things are busy. Servers are great, drinks are interesting and tasty and again the food is so amazing! On our most recent visit we had this burger and chicken sandwich and we split both because of the interesting condiments that were on it and we had never heard of-truly out of this world!
