The Trompo King - Taqueria & Grill

WOW. Just wow… Guys… I went to The Trompo King at their new location on 5th St., and holy… I mean just look at those pictures. First of all, wonderful service. I ordered takeout and was recommended the 5 mini tacos (accidentally scarfed one down before I could remember to take a picture). They were so good. I got the tacos with corn tortillas and asked them to surprise me with the meat options since I’m not picky, just hungry. They loaded the plate up with different meats, fresh lime wedges, a pepper, cilantro, onion, and my favorite part: small chunks of pineapple. The sides that came with it were frijoles charros and orange rice. It was delicious and worth the price. I was able to visit this new spot with some work friends. Glad something new has opened up on this edge of campus. I thought this would be a fast casual kind of place where you walk up to order, but it was not. We sat at the only remaining table around Noon. The server was kind and offered us menus, as well as free chips, salsa, and guacamole. I can think of no other place in Waco offering complimentary guacamole. The salsa was warm and thin, lacking a discernible flavor or heat. The guacamole was great! The menu does not have prices listed and was generally a little confusing. Awesome authentic food-truck style Mexican with great prices and quick service. The staff was friendly and the food was fresh. The menu has plenty of options and the location is a quick walk from campus. 10/10 recommend!

Aguas frescas made fresh to order, chips and guacamole and salsa amazing. Came to eat here for lunch with my sister and we are already thinking of when we can come back. Excellent food and service. 10/10!!!
