The Smithtown Library - Kings Park Building

The workers are never NOT talking. it’s an extremely loud library and I can hardly ever focus when I’m here because of how much talking is constantly going on. The front desk women never stop talking to each other loudly and make no effort to keep it some what quiet. They are just telling each other stories for hours.There is never a single fully quiet moment at this library, which is tough because of how small it is.

The ladies at the front never stop gossiping. I know about their mothers now, and the library is never quiet because of them. Can’t do my work, library is suppose to be a relatively quiet place, but the workers are making it a loud and distracting place. My daughter says the same thing. It’s horrible.

The library is very loud and distracting for being so small. The staff are constantly talking at a loud, disrespectful level which makes it hard to focus and get any real work done. I have visited many times and it a consistent trend that I am now fed up with. I will not be returning

My daughter absolutely loves the library. Is 20 years old now and his loved it during every phase of her life. It's been a place where she can explore and feel comfortable

As my quest for an optimal place to study continues, it is clear that this library is not the answer. With a mere 4 tables in the heart of much noise and clattering, and only 1 table downstairs, there are zero to no adequate places where concentration can be achieved and silence can be found. Not even noise cancelling headphones were strong enough to drown out the sounds enough for me to think, the place is simply too small to find a quiet corner.
