The Smithtown Library - Commack Building

I can’t say enough about the children and adult reference librarians. They are extremely helpful and supportive. I requested many books on a wide variety of topics. The reference librarians were so patient and helped me to obtain all of the books I needed. My daughter renewed her library card and needed assistance obtaining a book and enrolling in the adult summer reading program. She was met with the same level of warmth and competence. I hope that the library is able to expand the programs offered to adults such as chair yoga, Zumba classes, strength training and Pilates. The classes are very reasonable and beneficial to overall health and well being. The library is a welcoming place for everyone in the community . Laura Fox Library patron

This is only my second google review ever, but I thought I should share my horrific experience at this library. On December 2nd, I needed to use the library for a very important conference call. I sat by myself in a large empty room that was downstairs and unoccupied. There was nobody else using the room, nor (come to find out) nobody else was scheduled to use the room. During my conference call a librarian came into the room and stated I was not allowed to be in that room. I apologized for the confusion, and the librarian walked away, indicating to me it was okay to resume my conference call. 15 minutes later the librarian returned to the room as I was in the middle of my conference presentation and she demanded I leave the room. Not really a library review type of person, lol, but every time l go for one of my kids or for myself, everyone there is so friendly, nice, and beyond helpful. lf l need something, they take the time to provide it or to check other ways to get it, and 100 percent of the time l have received the same friendly, unrushed help.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. I was able to print out a document and have it notarized all for free, taking no more than 15 minutes total. I will be using this branch for all of my future notary services and I would highly recommend the same to others.

The Children's Room librarian was very knowledgeable and helpful. I gave her an idea of genre of books my child usually likes. My daughter ended up loving the books she recommended!
