The River Gem B&B

We had a lovely time. Mona and her daughters are very nice people. Walking into the River Gem is like walking into a novel, it's another place and time, so special. Mona is a delight, so friendly and sweet, as are her daughters, Violet and Aurora. Breakfast was delicious and specially prepared to meet my husband's dietary needs. Thank you for a comfortable, enchanting stop along our journey.

River Gem is appropriately named but Mona is the true gem of this bnb. She is the most gracious host. She is part chef part concierge part inn keeper and part artist. ||The vintage house is decorated & appointed with beautifully coordinated color themes. Attention to detail seems to be a top priority for this establishment. I stayed in the Ruby room. It was spacious and beautiful. It had its own bath room which was also large. Robes and slippers are provided.||Parking is off the street.||That are two porches with rocking chairs.||Breakfast is served between 7:30 & 9:00. We were looking for a weekend getaway, and chose the River Gem because of its excellent reviews. We were not disappointed. The building, set back from the road, is historic and the grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. There is a spacious veranda with comfortable sofas, chairs, and tables. Our room (Saphire) was clean, large, attractive, and beyond comfortable, with a great shower. Breakfast was delicious - we had a variety of tea to chose from, breakfast was tailored to our personal preferences. Mona pays attention to details and ensured she and her daughters went above and beyond to meet our dietary restrictions. The River Gem is really a gem! Mona creates a home away from home within easy driving distance of the eastern shore and some of the most beautiful (and not crowded) beaches! The breakfasts are the BEST!! (and we have been to 162 bed and breakfasts in the US since 1982). Mona and her daughters make every effort to pamper you and craft very special delights every morning. Our room is always clean and comfortable. Pocomoke City is quiet and restful.

A year ago my daughter and I had the pleasure of staying at this lovely home away from home when we were in town for the pony swim. The owner and her daughters were so warm and welcoming even before we arrived. I had specific dietary needs and they went above and beyond to accommodate my diet. The food was delicious. A special treat was their unique ice tea blend. The rooms were tasteful and exquisite. Plush robes and slippers were even provided. Ask the owner about her jewelry collection! In conclusion, while I enjoyed seeing the pony swim, the highlight of my trip was staying at The River Gem!!! I highly recommend it.
