The Pilot House

The Pilot House came in a very close second to Mabel’s Lobster Claw — and that says a lot! The food here is absolutely delicious. I had the lobster roll with clam chowder, and both were incredible — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. My husband ordered the baked crusted haddock and loved every bite, and my mother-in-law had the fish tacos, which were just as good. The atmosphere has that classic small-town coastal feel — casual, welcoming, and full of local charm. What makes it even better is the history tied to this place. The building originally stood as part of Kennebunkport’s old railroad era and was later turned around on its lot in the 1970s. Came here for lunch after a local shop owner recommended it for their smash burger. I ended up getting a lobster roll which was AMAZING. I came back a second time and got the recommended smash burger and would 100% get the lobster roll instead. Request upstairs for a room lined with floor to ceiling windows and views of the harbor. The water pitcher being a fish was cute and fun.

The food was real tasty and the staff was extremely friendly and polite. However the portion size was smaller than we expected. And that’s just our take on it . Otherwise it’s a great place to have a seafood meal!

We arrived as they opened. Everyone there was friendly including the parking attendant Chris. Many different options for seating. We sat on the 2nd floor balcony as the weather was nice and a good breeze was happening. We could not sit on the ship because our kids are not 21. The lobster rolls are great. Plenty of lobster meat. My wife and daughter do not care for seafood and found excellent options including the special of the day Bacon Wrapped Filet and a grilled chicken salad.

My favorite spot in town. The restaurant is beautiful, especially sitting upstairs or outside on the Spirit. The food is great. This time I got the Chix Caesar Sandwich and it was out of this world. Sue is an amazing bartender, so personable, and makes em strong.
