The Meadows Original Frozen Custard

A quaint frozen custard spot. This place is great for an evening out with the family. There a lot of flavors to choose from un custard and Italian ice. I had the cherry Italian ice flavor. Very sweet!

The frozen custard in this shop is so delicious, with a rich milky aroma and a dense, smooth, and delicate texture. The fruit-flavored frozen custard is made with fresh fruits, and the Turtle (with salted pecans and caramel) is also a must-try custard. Don’t forget to ask the store if they have a limited supply of bubble waffle, a hidden gem. It’s crispy on the outside, soft and fragrant on the inside, moderately sweet, and very delicious.

Went to The Meadows today and got a gelati - vanilla custard and root beer water ice. The custard is creamy, smooth, and dense. It is infinitely better than regular soft serve. The water ice is a perfect texture, holds up while mixing with the ice cream, and no ice chunks anywhere. Also, root beer is a tricky favor to get right and this was perfect, all the flavor of a float without the carbonation. Go go go!

If you're used to Rita's gelatis, The Meadows has the same thing! Their ice is so SMOOTH tho.

I grew up where going to the “ice cream stand” really meant getting a delicious frozen custard (usually soft serve). Meadows’ custard harkens back to those creamy frozen custard memories. The frozen custard at Meadows was scooped, although the soft serve machines were right behind the other custard containers. I didn’t ask, but maybe both soft serve and scooped are available based on the order? I had a creamsicle “gelati” - frozen vanilla custard combined with orange Italian ice. The combination lightened up the richness of the custard, a needed modification after coming from a rich dinner. Delicious and definitely repeatable! Meadows is tucked in on the side of the Giant grocery in the Hickory Ridge shopping center.
