The Gridley Inn B&B

This was our second time at the Gridley Inn and we can’t recommend it enough. We really did feel like family the second time back. The room was beautiful- and huge. Breakfast was delicious. And, it was wonderful to eat with the other guests and get to know them. Our host Stef remembered us right away from last year. Waterloo is the perfect base camp to explore the region. And the rates are so reasonable. Really a hidden gem!

The building was is disrepair with a very loose banister and loose millwork on outside rails. The owners want you to take your shoes off at the door, but the place is not clean. Upper mouldings, windows and baseboards are dirty. The stairs are old and original but hard to navigate. Room is spacious, beds are good - but linens are polycotton. Chairs in the rooms are old and very low. The breakfast was minimal - but the coffee was good. Supplied toiletries are minimal and there are no extras. The lounge and public areas are now inviting.

The Gridley Inn was one of our favorite stops during our trip along the Erie Canal bike path this past week. The hosts were incredibly accommodating, offering us a safe and secure space to store our bikes. They were both friendly, engaging, and provided excellent conversation and service throughout our stay. Everything about our time here was fantastic, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if we’re ever in the area!

Staying at The Gridley Inn is a real human experience. The hosts all have excellent and engaging personalities. They serve up an excellent breakfast, which is also a pleasant experience from which to start the day. The inn itself is centrally located within New York's Finger Lakes region and no more than a 45-minute drive from most destinations. I recommend staying here, and if I find myself back in the area again I will patronize them again.
