The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill - Oceanside, CA

Outstanding new Mediterranean restaurant in Oceanside! We have been longing for a Greek restaurant worthy of repeat visits, and this place did not disappoint. Hubby enjoyed a generous Gyros Greek salad and I had a heart-and-soul warming Avgolemono soup (creamy lemon chicken & rice) with pita. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food was served with a minimum wait time. Pro-tip: rice pudding for dessert…just do it. Definitely a great add to Oceanside’s ever-evolving food scene. We’ll be back!

I came by for the first time and was immediately blown away by the friendly atmosphere!! Several employees warmly greeted upon entering the restaurant. I ordered the Greek Salad with a chicken skewer; there was a longer wait due to it being busy + a lunch rush, and the gentleman that gave me my order offered a side of their rice pudding as a token if appreciation for my patience. The salad was fresh, really tasty with the dressing and the chicken breast was properly cooked and surprisingly juicy! I would definitely recommend calling ahead of time if you’re in a rush, otherwise I have no complaints!! 🔥✨

Good food but.... expensive! The salmon dish was great but small portion of salmon for 23 dollars. The kids meal was 14 dollars and very large, way to big for my 2 year old. The small and large salads are only a dollar apart which is odd. The gyro was big and a great price though. Overall too expensive for a family to come often. Not worth 75 dollars. Would rather get more for my money elsewhere which is disappointing.

The hubby and I have been anxious to try The Great Greek since it opened, as we (especially ME) are huge fans of Greek cuisine. I must say, this place did NOT disappoint! From the time we walked in the door to the time we left, the employees were all so friendly and efficient. The owner Sam is just the kindest man, and so humble and friendly to all patrons. Now to the best part....the FOOD! Holy moly, I ordered a plate of dolmades and we both had the Great Greek Gyros, which was SO tasty good and absolutely the *biggest* gyro sandwich I have ever had the pleasure of eating! The dolmas were equally delicious, particularly dipped in their amazing tzatziki sauce...which incidentally, is honestly the best I have ever had. Cute cafe style place with good greek food. We ordered some gyros, feta fries and lemon potato. Everything was very tasty and served hot and fresh. The only complaint was that the lemon potato was $8 and only came with 4 potato wedges and six slices of lemon. When I mentioned this to the managment they were very apologetic and offered some discount coupons. Unfortunately we are not local and could not use these, but it was kind of him to offer. The rest of the meal was good.
