The Gourmet at Kenilworth

Had a nice lunch with my son. He had the green chili burrito and I had the shrimp salad sandwich with homemade chips. We both enjoyed our meal. I would eat here again. Came back and had a sushi roll, hamburger and crab soup. I found the crab soup too spicy for me. I probably would not order the sushi again. Hamburger and French fries were good. Came back again and had shrimp salad sandwich which was a bit disappointing. There was no old bay on it and not enough mayonnaise. It was bland. My son had the Parmesan turkey sandwich which he liked. The Parmesan is infused in the bread and it was good. Came back again and had mahi fish tacos and the turkey sandwich. Both were good. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the ambience was equally great. Someone had mentioned that the ambience was not good enough and it was similar to a cafeteria. I actually almost changed my mind, but I'm glad I did not. I included pictures of the inside so you can see it's not a cafeteria. The crab bisque was sooooo good.... The bread was great, we asked for more (there's an extra charge for extra bread). The crab cake was really good and it was mostly crab meat. The salmon was equally good. We would definitely come back.

A recent Saturday night our party of four had dinner at The Gourmet at Kenilworth. The atmosphere was full of excitement with a live piano player! The decor is very modern and artsy, including a large mural of the Chesapeake Bay next to the Oyster Bar. We were quickly seated in the lounge by a cheerful waitress. We had drinks and ordered our food. The selection was very challenging as every option seemed like a good choice! I chose the special Piedmont Rockfish with gnocchi and vegetables and I had the suggested Chardonnay option, good choice. Everyone was very pleased with the fresh and flavorful food. When you visit, please save room for dessert! The Smith Island cake is delicious Cheers!

Please stay away from the fish tacos! They arrived and tasted like they had been sitting on the counter for a week and then reheated. I sent them back. none of the crushes are made with anything crushed in them at all. they are simply ice ,Alcohol and whatever syrup the bartender decides is trendy for the week. Mine was blackberry. My husband and daughter both ordered tuna melts which are very hard to screw up, But they arrived mushy with a slap of melted cheese on top of an unripe tomato. We will not be going back.
