The Getaway Cafe

Came here with a group of friends on a 4 day getaway. Found this place at random and decided to check this place out. Our food was so good that our group of 7 people unanimously decided to come back 3 mornings in a row. The wait time wasn't too long, about 20 minutes for a group of 7, the food was amazing and the owner Diane came out personally to both serve us and ask us about our meals. For all 7 of us to be dead silent while eating speaks wonders about the food. Order the chilaquiles both days and on the third decided to try something new and still wasn't disappointed. Had then 3rd best chilaquiles of my life here as well as the best pancakes of my life. We waited an hour for a table, but it was worth the wait! Service was wonderful, the food was delicious and my husband enjoyed his mimosa. I thought the coffee was quite good as well. Large menu with lots of options for many diets. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a yummy breakfast/brunch/lunch in Lake Tahoe.

The reviews are literally true. Perfect service. Great food. Cool atmosphere. The owner walks you to your table and remembers your name. Such a treasure. The menu says we make mimosas like we're drinking them at home and they were NOT kidding. I felt like I was in this ladies kitchen and she was feeding us on our way home. A great great place. Stop in.

The food was incredible. What really stood out to my husband and I though was the service. Everyone around us knew the servers and were greeted with hugs. We were on our honeymoon and multiple servers came up to congratulate us and waited patiently for me to pull up pictures on my phone. I felt so welcomed there, even just for my short time. I can see why they have such a loyal following with hospitality like that. Thank you so much💞

Absolutely loved our experience at The Getaway Cafe! It’s hard to put into words just how much we enjoyed it. This cozy, local gem offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere paired with beautifully crafted dishes that hit the spot. We tried the Coconut French Toast, Benedict, and Chilaquiles — each one cooked to absolute perfection. The flavors were well-balanced, portions generous, and presentation thoughtful. On top of that, the staff was incredibly polite and attentive, making us feel right at home. This place truly stands out in South Lake Tahoe — highly recommended!
