I just had the best omelet ever. fir the second time in a week. This was the perfect combination of fresh ingredients cooked perfectly into a thin rolled egg blanket and I paid the extra for hollandaise and their delicious coffee. I would come back here again and again. Fine People in a beautiful Iowan town with excellent cooking. The hash browns were better than most, too.
We were on a Driftless drive and got hungry. The Buck Stops Here was rated well; love the name, and I actually wrote a poem with that same title after the last election. Anyway, my story begins and ends with one thing: Dill Pickle Cole Slaw. When I get to a diner, I usually read the menu of sides first. I had to find a way to get that Slaw. There was a “Buckwich” sandwich: pulled pork topped with Dill Pickle Slaw. But then there was the DW Tasty Tendy: a tenderloin with slaw on the side. I told the waitress I was torn between the two. “Ummm, that’s a tough one. The cook pounds, trims and hand-breads the pork himself.” Yo. As it turned out, my wife ordered the pulled pork, and I ordered the tenderloin. Best tenderloin I have ever had: crisp outside and moist in the middle. Luckily, my wife
Owen is the best! We hired his team to do catering for our daughter & son-in-law's casual wedding reception. They requested taco bar and Owen hit it out of the park. It was all absolutely delicious -- chicken, beef, black beans, rice, pico, plus all the toppings! We even had him sneak in a few hot dogs. Our guests all loved the food, and we've enjoyed some leftovers. To take the service up a notch, Owen drove all the way around to Wisconsin to set up on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. When we found out the bridge was closed, I was concerned that he'd have to back out but nope, he came and set it up (with only some electrical outlet issues on our end). Truly, if you have any kind of event and don't want to do the food prep, do not look further than The Buck Stops Here! Forgot t
Stopped in back in November. Google had the restaurant as being open. The lights were on. We did not see the sign on the door stating they were closed. One of us went to the bathroom prior to anyone meeting the rest of the group at the door stating they were closed. Our party left. The one person still in the bathroom overheard the conversation about our party after they left. You'd have thought we tried to rob the place and were less than humans. Do better, even when you think nobody is listening. I have no idea what the food is like, I do know how they will talk about you after you have left their establishment.
Good food, owners were very friendly, smoked pork chop was amazing and sweet corn side was yummy
