Taverna on the Green

They have only been open for a few months. The servers were so attentive! We had lamb chops and the gyro Greek salad platter. Delicious food and large portions, great for taking some home for another meal. The tzatziki sauce was yummy and the pita bread tasted freshly baked. They had mint jam, which is not my favorite, as I prefer mint sauce or chimichurri sauce with lamb, but that was minor. The lamb was cooked perfect. The restaurant was in a large space with booths and tables at this golf clubhouse, with an adjacent live jazz lounge room. We were glad to have authentic Greek food for the first time in a long while. We enjoyed cocktails and wine as well. After dinner we left and enjoyed the live music for a bit. A nice evening. We met friends for lunch and to enjoy fantastic food in a family atmosphere! Sarah was our server and handled 10 hungry customers with aplomb & professionalism! She was knowledgeable about the food & sensitive to us just talking talking talking lol. Sarah kept our glasses filled, our plates removed, & was friendly & efficient. I got the cheeseburger with fries ordered well done & it was delish! The chesse melted beautifully and the fries were super crispy! The lettace, tomatoes, pickles & onions were fresh & crisp with beautiful garden colors! YUM! Mr. Nick brought out the flaming cheese and WOW! Presentation was awesome & that flaming cheese!!!! Spme of the best food in Cookeville. Quiet patio seating with very attentive service. The food options were very diverse. The chicken riviera was flavorful and delicious. Also has incredible cheesecake. There was a baklava option but thought it would be pushing it to get both. Don't forget to ask about the flaming cheese!

We had a great experience for lunch. Roomy dining area with nice views of the golf course. Huge portions so don't order as much as I did. We took home more food than we actually ate! Can recommend the gyro platter (large gyro, not your ordinary fries, and a colorful Greek salad), mousakka and the baklava.

They've done a nice job remodeling the restaurant side of a tired building. Four of us shared two lemon chicken soups. They were tasty. Diner 1 had the lasagna and loved it. Diner 2 had Chicken Marsala and gobbled it up. Diner 3 had Pork Tenderloin Marsala and was pleased. Diner 4 had Chicken Oreganata. Half of a chicken covered with a butter lemon sauce. Very nicely cooked. The server was excellent. We agreed to come back and save room for dessert. They had a tray of baklava straight from the oven, but we were stuffed. Please give these folks a try.
