Taqueria Oviedo

Since it was a bit cold today, I made plans to order 2 Large Caldo de Rez to take home so that my 94 year old Mom could enjoy the broth and veggies and I would eat the beef. Well, to my disappointment and disbelief what was supposed to be beef was NOTHING but FAT!!!! I can’t understand WHY the cook would think it’s okay to sell a Consumer nothing but FAT!!! So Please People DO NOT ORDER THE CALDO DE REZ unless you can digest the FAT. I will Never Stop at this Nasty place ever again!!! Do the RIGHT THING, Trim the fat!!! It was OVER PRICED AND NASTY!!!

I was really looking forward to visiting this place after watching a TikTok video about it. I’m not trying to bash the restaurant in any way, but I want to share my honest opinion. We went there for dinner, and my tacos were cold. Additionally, the oil they were cooked in tasted burnt and old. There were also many flies inside, and we kept trying to swat them away from our food. The prices were quite high for just regular tacos as well.

Taqueria Oviedo is my favorite taqueria in the RGV. Having grown up in the Mission area, this family owned taqueria was our go to spot after church and after work. Over the last 25 years they have maintained that same delicious flavor that they started with all those years ago. The quality is consistent from location to location and from taqueria to taquiza.

The menudo was tasty so was the torta (carne deshebrada) I had. The food was piping hot. Family atmosphere very pleasant. The service was great and our server Betty took care of us. Kudos to her. Will be going back again.
